A Smoky Eye is a shadowy gradient, extending away from the eye line, dark to light.

Smoky, however, does not necessarily mean dramatic (high contrast).

Smoky is a technique that may also be used with any variety of contrast and color.

As you can see, the Smoky Eye technique manifests itself with a wide variety of results, depending on the colors and intensities used.

What a Smoky Eye is not

A High Contour Eye is often referred to as a Smoky Eye, but it is not.

A High Contour Eye is an extension of a Classic Contour Eye and looks like this.

The crease color is blended up onto the outer brow bone and creates a heightened look to to the eye.

The ball of the eye still shows a lighter contrast intensity to the crease.
