The appearance of healthy mature skin is only skin deep.
Our top layer of skin, which is an ingenious evolutionary system of constantly replicating fresh new skin cells to replace dead and shedding skin cells, is where the appearance of healthy skin lies.
Give your skin a reason to replace surface dead skin cells with fresh young skin cells, and it will.
The benefit of fresh surface skin cells is a smoother, healthier skin, both in appearance and in skin’s primary function to protect the body.
The trick is to keep water from evaporating out of the top layer of skin.
Hyaluronic acid are cells that absorb up to 1,000 times their weight and size in water. They exist mostly in the joints of our body to keep joints lubricated and moist.
A topical layer of hyaluronic acid applied to our skin before moisturizer will keep the water already in our skin and retain water from your moisturizer. This is a brilliant concept for healthy looking skin.
Enriched w/ Sodium Hyaluronate, Collagen and Retinoids, this emollient serum hydrates the skin leaving it soft and supple, while Anti-oxidants and soy proteins help protect against environmental damage. Size: .5 fl. oz. (15 g)
Cruelty free | Paraben free | Sulfate free | Gluten free Recommended for: All skin types. Made in USA
Solution #2: Exfoliation
Winter kills off surface skin cells faster. A surface of dead skin cells leaves the skin appearing ashy.
To avoid this, gently exfoliate weekly to remove the surface dead skin cells and reveal the fresh and healthy looking ones underneath. Exfoliation, merely by the fact that it speeds up the shedding of dead skin cells, encourages skin to produce more healthy fresh skin cells which increase the appearance of healthy skin.
Gives skin a professional, spa-like exfoliating facial. Contains microdermabrasion scrub that safely and efficiently removes dead skin cells leaving a silky smooth texture that is ready to welcome rejuvenating new skin cells. Size: 3.0 fl. oz. (85 ml) Cruelty free | Paraben free | Sulfate free | Gluten free Recommended for: All skin types. Made in USA
Solution #3: Glycolic Acid
Alpha hydroxy acids like glycolic acid work by removing the top layers of dead skin cells. Glycolic acid also seems to help reverse sun damage to the skin.
Apart from dissolving dead skin cells, glycolic acid also flattens the skin’s surface, leaves it feeling even and makes wrinkles less noticeable.
This luxurious, oil-free crème helps exfoliate dead skin cells while you sleep. It helps remove signs of aging, dryness and uneven skin tone. Besides facial skin, this cream is ideal for hydrating and repairing the décolleté area. Always use SPF 50 over cream when using on the neck during the day. Glycolic Content: 4.31% Size: 1 oz. (28.35 g) Cruelty free | Paraben Free | Sulfate free | Gluten Free Recommended for: All skin types. Made in USA
Bonus Solution: Mist
A simple spritz of water will refresh the appearance of surface dry skin. Unfortunately as it evaporates it takes moisture from your skin with it, making skin even drier than before.
A mist packed with humectants (moisture seeking natural extracts) not only refreshes skin, it attracts and holds onto moisture. This keeps surface skin more hydrated, can be used anytime, even over makeup, and promotes an essential oil sense of wellbeing.
A refreshing mist with natural extracts that soothe and soften the skin. Instantly rehydrates and refreshes all skin types and aids in restoring tone and elasticity as well as setting makeup. Use throughout the day as needed. Size: 4 fl. oz. (118 ml)
Cruelty free | Paraben free | Sulfate free | Gluten free Recommended for: All skin types Made in USA

When SF mayor Gavin Newsom first opened the doors for same-sex marriage, Makeup Gourmet responded.
Free Makeup At Gay Weddings If you’re in a hurry to your same-sex nuptials and don’t have time to get pretty, San Francisco’s own Makeup Gourmet — aka Chris Scott — will be camped outside City Hall on June 23, brushes in hand, to offer free make-up service. See, not everybody is out to make a buck on the gay wedding boom expected here. Why is he doing it? Because The Gourmet wants to contribute something in his small way to the good of the cause. Give back. Didn’t your English teacher always say write what you know? In this case, it’s blush what you know. The Gourmet is looking for some celebrity face to powder, too. He’s emailed Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi, offering to paint them pretty, too, but no luck yet for the newly engaged celebs. Maybe George Takei or some of the other Trekkie has-beens will need a touch-up.

In Makeup Gourmet’s own small way, we have helped members of the LGBTQ+ community feel more like themselves.
To that end, we are celebrating by knocking 50% off all our M2F makeup applications and lessons during Pride month 2024. Extended thru July 14

Our top layer of skin, which is an ingenious evolutionary system of constantly replicating fresh new skin cells to replace dead and shedding skin cells, is where the appearance of healthy skin lies.
During the winter, colder temperatures and indoor heating suck the water out of our top layer of skin, making the appearance of our skin less healthy.
The trick is to keep water from evaporating out of the top layer of skin.
Here are 3 solutions to do just that.
Solution #1: Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic acid are cells that absorb up to 1,000 times their weight and size in water. They exist mostly in the joints of our body to keep joints lubricated and moist.

The long forgotten part of our facial anatomy re-emerges. With lips once again naked and exposed, and your old lip color having seen better days/years, here is a tried and true method for getting the right lip color.
Let the color pick you.
Here’s how:
Before putting any color on your lips, put colors you are attracted to on your fingertips.
Next hold your finger over your lips while looking into a mirror.
You will have an instant visceral response to whether this color likes you or not.
Other tests:
Hold your colored fingertips over the clothing you are wearing.
See if they like each other.
Some colors make other colors look more vibrant, and some just seem off.
Trust your visceral judgment and go with what makes you smile.
Now we get to see each other smile again.
Warmly, Chris Scott 27th of April, 2022
