Unfortunately the coronavirus exists and it is here. Our only line of defense is to prevent coming in contact with the virus.
If you have not yet been given a flu shot please get one. buy a portable hand sanitizer and use it often. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap for the time it takes to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ often.
This may sound crazy however the more you reduce the need to be near a lot of other people the better.
Prevention is key.
Having worked in retail cosmetics for many years, sterilization and vigilant cleanliness was mandatory for a safe shopping environment.
Any cosmetic store or cosmetic department is a breeding ground for germs, bacteria and disease. Everyone touches everything. Testers are applied to lips and eyes where viruses are easily spread.
Though the advice I am offering needs to be applied to every aspect of our behavior during this pandemic, I will offer advice about shopping for cosmetics.
Now is not the time to sit down for a makeover in a public store.
Now is not the time to let someone in a public setting touch your face.
Now is not the time to use cosmetic testers that are within reach of the general public.
The advice being given from the Center of Disease Control (CDC) is to minimize time spent in public places.
- Getting a backup canned/non-perishable food supply.
- Getting backup drugstore type products supply.
- Backing up your water supply at home.
- Wearing a nose and mouth mask when in public.
The key here is prevention. This is not paranoia, this is common sense.
Reduce every possible risk of exposure in your daily life until this pandemic is under control.
For myself, I will be ordering necessities online as much as possible and having them delivered.
Getting back to makeup. My studio is a safe place. It is not at all open to the general public and I take great precaution with each client I work with, washing my hands often during each interaction.
So please, prevent yourself from contracting the Coronavirus. Widen your circle of defense so that you and yours are insulated from potential exposure.
Thank you for taking a moment to allow me to share my concern.
Warmly,
Chris Scott
